Matthew Somsky
Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Matt moved to Chicago shortly after graduating from Eastern Michigan in 2004. After spending 6 months abroad studying in Oxford, Matt developed an interest in the finer beers and wines that Europe has to offer. Deciding to pursue his dream of owning his own business, Matt recently teamed up with his dad to open Vrai Amour - a concept inspired by their favorite gourmet shop in hometown Kalamazoo.

Born in Flint, Michigan, Dave was involved in many local sports before spending 2 years in the Army. He then attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan where he participated in wine tastings and explored many beers of the world. After graduating from Western Michigan, Dave remained in Kalamazoo where he worked in the human service field for 27 years. In 2003, Dave had the fortune of traveling with his son, Matt, following his studies abroad in Oxford, England. Together they traveled Southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland learning about the beers of Europe and their culture. In the summer of 2007, father and son started exploring different neighborhoods to open a gourmet food and fine drink store. To their suprise, they found a wonderful store tucked away around the corner from DePaul University.
